The basis
First we will concentrate on sketching, composition and
geometry of the future painting. We will learn how to
really look at things to be able to put them from a 3
dimensional form onto a 2 dimension canvas or board.
How to capture light
The fine nuances of light will be another mayor topic.
To observe light closely and learn its workings on materials
and nuances between the objects: light, shadow, shades,
light sources and reflection. Probably the most important
phase of the painting; because when your basic painting
is well defined in light and shadow portions, then the
use of the colours, the so-called 'glazing' can not go
wrong!
Create colour
The painting comes to life by applying different transparent
colour layers on top of each other. This technique is
often referred to as glazing. This method of painting
was used in the past (17th century masters) but can very
well be used for contemporary art. The results are of
a richness in colour, which cannot be obtained through
mixing the colours directly on your pallet. |
